A Refreshing Approach to Family Law…

You are about to discover a refreshing approach to family law that will help keep you out of court and will provide you with the tools you’ll need for a fair and amicable end to your marriage...

Massachusetts Uncontested Flat-Fee Divorce Lawyers

Not every divorce is a long, expensive process.  In many cases, the parties have reached an agreement on all of the issues Our lawyers can help conclude your uncontested divorce quickly, efficiently and inexpensively.

Uncontested Divorce Process in Mass.

Usually only one of the spouses hires a lawyer to prepare the necessary paperwork.  Lawyers cannot represent both sides in a divorce.  If, for example, you hire our firm to handle your uncontested divorce, we will prepare and file the Joint Petition for Divorce, affidavits, financial statements and your Separation Agreement. Your spouse only needs to read and sign the documents.  He or she may call to ask us general questions, but they must always bear in mind that we work for you.

The Traditional “Contested” Divorce Isn’t Your Only Option

On average, it takes up to a full year – or longer – to go through the court system and get divorced.  Our attorneys believe that, once you’ve agreed to disagree, you should move through the divorce process quickly; not so quickly that you don’t pay attention to the crucial issues that are associated with divorce, but we strive to have you finished with our office no more than a month after receiving your Divorce Homework and Representation Agreement.

An Alternative to the “Old Way” of Divorce

When you work with our Massachusetts Flat-Fee Divorce Lawyers, you and your spouse remain in charge of your own lives and in charge of all of the critical decisions regarding your divorce.  You retain control of how your marriage ends, not some randomly assigned judge who barely knows you or your family.

You decide what is fair and reasonable and what is best for you and your spouse.  You decide how you are going to divide your property and debts, retirement accounts, or any family business.  You decide who is going to stay in the marital home, and you decide how to deal with your estate plan and alimony.

If children are involved, you decide how you are going to divide your parenting responsibilities, you decide how you are going to handle child support, and you decide how to handle the cost of their education.  There are no two people better qualified to determine the best plan for the family moving forward – than the parents.

An uncontested divorce in Massachusetts is by far the simplest, smartest and least expensive way to end your marriage.  It’s also the most intelligent. You’ll spend less money on legal fees, less time on discovery and hidden assets, and more time focusing on more productive issues like insurance and tax implications associated with divorce, estate planning and other pertinent issues.

Finally, there’s the “Right Way” to End Your Marriage…

Think about it for a minute.  If you and your spouse are still able to effectively communicate, and can work together to negotiate a fair settlement, why would you even consider any other option?  To learn more, go here to listen to our radio ad #5P.

A divorce trial can strain your already tense relationship.  Working with your spouse – with the eye toward reaching an agreement – puts the two of you on the same team to resolve issues important to both of you.  When it’s all over, you will have reduced your costs, reduced stress, saved time, and – most importantly – saved your kids from the effects of divorce on children.

Divorce Lawyers Handling Uncontested Cases in Massachusetts for a Flat-Fee

The fees associated with an uncontested divorce depend upon the issues in the case.  For cases in which the parties do not have children or real estate, we charge a flat rate of $1,750 and get it done in about a month.  For cases where the parties have children or real estate – or want the work done faster – we provide additional services.  The difference lies in the fact that additional drafting may be required or that we have to put your work ahead of the line.  Learn More About Our Services & Fees

The only extra fees you pay are court costs (usually around $215). The rate includes all meetings, phone calls, e-mails, correspondence, drafting, court appearances and negotiation. Our clients appreciate the predictability of a “package” rate.

Am I Stuck With My Agreement Once We’re Done?

In the future, if your divorce decree is no longer fair to you, you can file a Post-Divorce action whereas you ask the court to modify your decree.  The reality is that most Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts will modify a divorce decree if the party can show that the circumstances of changed-such as a loss of income, a disability, or a remarriage by the party receiving support.
